The Steering Group are responsible for managing the process of consultation and ensuring all on the non-domestic rate register are fully briefed on the BID process. Project Manager

Discover Lanark Steering Group - Gary Winning, Project ManagerGary Winning is the Discover Lanark Project Manager. Gary is a Lanark local who has lived and worked in and around Lanark most of his life. A former pupil of Lanark Grammar He was best known for his role as General Manager of the Clydesdale Inn (J D Wetherspoon) and former member of the Lanark Business Group involved in projects such as Late Night Lanark Shopping and the Totally Locally campaign.

John Cunningham – Border Biscuits

Steering Group - John CunninghamJohn is the Managing Director of Border Biscuits and started the company in Lanark 33 years ago. Border Biscuits plays an active role in the community and 10 years ago established the Border Community Support charity specifically to support local good causes. One of the projects it runs is the Lanark website which was created 5 years ago to help promote the town to both locals and visitors. John is a Director of Lanark Community Development Trust and works on initiatives to support town regeneration.

Graeme McLeish – R C McLeish Insurance Consultants

Steering Group - Graeme McLeishGraeme has lived and worked in Lanark for over 30 years with R C McLeish Insurance Consultants specialising in commercial insurance, pensions and investment.  With the Rotary Club of Lanark in 2007 Graeme has led the following projects – High St Banners, Town business maps, Lanark mugs and Christmas trees for shops. He joined the Lanark Community Development Trust Executive in 2015 and became part of the LCDT board in Feb 2017 taking over from Neil MacDonald as chair of the Executive in Feb 2017

Jimmy Gilchrist – GP Plantscape

Steering Group - Jimmy GilchristJimmy Gilchrist is the managing director of GP Plantscape based in Kirkfieldbank. The company supplies and maintains commercial interior and exterior landscaping projects in Scotland, North of England and the Midlands. Services provided also include Christmas displays, gritting and snow clearing and renting artwork to customers. Jimmy is the 4th generation of a business family based in the Clyde Valley and is keen to see Lanark continue to develop both for visitors and local residents.

Dario Bianco – Valerio’s

Steering Group - Dario BiancoDario is the owner of Valerio’s, one of the oldest family businesses in Lanark, established by his grandfather in 1932. In 1990 he expanded and rebuilt their well recognised restaurant and take-away premises on Bannatyne Street. When not involved in the day-to-day running of the business, Dario takes a keen interest in the development of Lanark.
